Beyond the performances, we invite you to meet the artists and discover their worlds in a different way, through workshops. Unless otherwise stated, these activities are free, require no prior experience and, above all, are open to everyone.
This workshop will give participants a glimpse into nasa4nasa’s practice. Pulling from their joint repertoire and using different movement prompts, participants are invited to explore choreographic collaboration.
During their two hour workshop Noura Seif(nasa4nasa) will introduce key tools in their creation process: listening as a mode of movement, space as a constant collaborator, and movement exploration as a tool for language research. This workshop is open to all bodies, no previous dance experience required.
“This laboratory will focus on physical practices that seek to awaken imagetic and poetic journeys through danced gestures to compose a spatial choreography. Considering here “dance states” that can vary abysmally in form, we will physically immerse ourselves in emotional environments awakened by physical engagements, as well as perceive what certain physical and bodily gestures awaken in our feelings. We embrace the body as political-organic-cultural material, with which dancing emerges as a simultaneous and intertwined act with celebrating and saying goodbye, crying and laughing, calming and confronting, crossing and forgetting - always to remember a dream.
The hours spent together will be immersed in physical practices that might include meditations, “impossible” exercises, touching and writing. We will witness each other, sweat, doubt, and feel our boundaries - even that which may frustrate us - potentially transform into material for shared corporeality. Improvisation tools will be studied together throughout the workshop. To tune in and to listen are dear words for this meeting. (always with no promises, but with care: to remember that there are many dances and even more that are unknown.)”
