A seductive yet obnoxious play.
In the sensual NO MERCY, the duo nasa4nasa drags you into a world where the female body is eroticised, fast food is consumed in large quantities in front of a digital audience (mukbang) and Britney Spears is played in loop. During this 45-minute DJ set, nasa4nasa invokes the ‘Naddaha’, an Egyptian mythical female spirit that lures men into the Nile, resulting in their death or disappearance. Thus they explore the limits of sensuality and desire interacting with violence. Enchanting, uncomfortable, addictive - just like endless scrolling on the internet. Will you look away or linger?
Egyptian dancers Noura Seif Hassanein and Salma Abdel Salam form the duo nasa4nasa. They use their Instagram channel as a digital stage for their performances. Imagery and our digital culture are themes that constantly recur in their work. In a subtle way, they make the audience think about our mass consumption and the male gaze.
From the same duo, we also present the performance Shem3edan in which they perform a modern candelabra dance together with seven dancers.
