A danced tribute to eternal transformation
An ode is a poem, traditionally accompanied by music and dedicated to a person or an event. Catol's ODE develops itself as a dance dedicated to gaps, fractions and transformations. Their choreographic investigation takes the form of a tribute to what just doesn't happen, to what might have been. The solo thus becomes a training session dedicated to the unfinished.
Performer and choreographer Catol Teixeira was born in the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre. After their training in classical dance and acrobatics Catol graduated in contemporary dance at La Manufacture. Their work is a constant exercise in observing space-time ; constantly in search of choreographic methods that challenge notions of what a body can be. Catol dances as a way not to forget that bodies are a place of passage, of relationship and negotiation between organic-political-cultural powers, a threshold of memories and a field of moving desires.
