What does it mean to be 'a child of all countries' ? And thus from no country at all ?

The Berlin theatre group andcompany & Co makes an 'adult game for children'. The piece is based on the book Kind alle Länder (1938) by Irmgard Keun about ten-year-old Kully who flees from the nazis together with her parents. During her writing, the author herself was fleeing and stayed in Ostend for a while.

The makers mix Keun's book with the personal stories of the actors who emigrated to Germany as a child : writer and performer Luna Ali fled from Syria, actress Damon Taleghani from Iran. Next to them two ten-year-old girls, Zümra Köseoglu and Rokia Karschnia voice Kully's view and hold up a mirror to the adults.

Land aller Kinder asks questions about fleeing, exile and human rights in a childishly direct and humorous way. The set by the Israeli artist Hila Flashkes makes you think of a technique from pop-up children's books. On stage giant shark's teeth that continually change shape are lurking. Now they look like a fence, then again like the keys of a piano. Take care !
