Marlene Monteiro Freitas epitomises the new Portuguese dance. Inhabited by the grotesque figures of the carnivals of her Cape Verdian childhood, she creates tableaux of a strange grace. A new creation to round off the NEXT festival !

We know the artist for her abundant and expressionist pieces, exuberant in form. This new creation for six dancers plays with meanings. If Oss means bone in Creole, it's also an expression that the practitioners of karaté know well : it summarizes the actions of pushing and supporting. And then there's the bone as guardian and revealing ancient secrets and guarantee of anatomic orientations. But our Oss prefers a skeleton that is both solid and soft, turned upside down.
