In Next Day the Paris director Philippe Quesne catapults us to an other world, a universe where normality manifests itself in all its extremities. Thirteen children between 8 and 11 inhabit a bizarre microcosm where there is no question of adults. Here, dream and reality, music and language, loneliness and the group are interwoven. Philippe Quesne's work is grafted on the small rituals of daily life, which he transforms into ceremonies, sometimes melancholic, sometimes funny but always symptomatic of the shortcomings of our society. The stage becomes a laboratory, a 'vivarium space' where things can originate which, in real life, are 'not done'. Next Day fits into the series of legendary performances with children made by great directors at Campo.
