Infinétude is both a concert for six voices and a dance performance for six bodies. Alma Söderberg returns to her first love and her inexhaustible source of inspiration, flamenco. Because this dance has the ability to evoke and play with deep emotions (joy, sadness, happiness, rebellion, despair, etc.), while following complex rhythmic patterns that constantly change as the dancers and musicians interact. In short: an encounter between metrical thought and emotional physicality, where one does not exclude the other. With a troupe of five phenomenal artists - all from the European contemporary dance scene - who are both musicians and dancers, they explore new patterns that bring head and heart into harmony.
Music is an essential component of all the projects of Alma Söderberg, who lives and works in Brussels as a choreographer, performer and musician. She uses her voice and body to play the space as if it were an instrument. Her current research focuses on the way we listen while we look, on the relationship between the ear and the eye. She has embedded her practice in a number of solo performances before creating group shows in collaboration with various well-known artists, collectives and institutions, such as the Swedish ensemble Cullberg, with whom she created The Listeners and Noche, presented during NEXT 2022. With a background in contemporary dance and flamenco, she always works closely with sound artist Hendrik Willekens. Alma Söderberg also curates for festivals such as the EarEye festival in Malmö, and has won the Thalia prize and been awarded the Cullberg grant.
