A physical and sensory trip along loss, presence and memory.
When he was eleven years old, Vincent Dupont saw his mother drown and be saved. This sweeping memory forms the starting point for his new performance I AM HERE. This traumatic experience is the starting point of a physical and sensory trip through loss, presence and memory. Instead of imitating the moment itself he explores how that memory has fixed itself in his body through time, how it fades, transforms and at the same time remains tangible.
With I AM HERE Dupont shows how intense and personal memories can be transformed into universal, shared experiences. The stage becomes a place where memory and imagination converge, where bodies leave traces in space, disappear and emerge again. What remains is not what you see but what you feel – as if you leave a dream that keeps vibrating in your skin for a long time.
Vincent Dupont is a French choreographer who is known for his groundbreaking work. In his creations he combines dance with sound, image, breath and text. His performances are never only visual but activate the whole body and all the senses of the spectator. Time and again Dupont investigates how perception works and how art allows us to experience new realities.
