An urgent show about technological power and digital vulnerability.

How does it feel to encounter your digital doppelgänger in deepfake (nude) images? For many teenage girls, this is not a dystopian fantasy, but a real threat. AI technologies like deepfake make gender-based digital violence more accessible than ever and have profound psychological and social implications. DEEPER, the new theatre performance by Gosia Wdowik, explores how these technologies affect young women's relationship with their own body, sexuality and identity.
Based on conversations with teenage girls about deepfake technologies and sexuality, Gosia Wdowik creates a theatre performance that opens up space for dialogue between different generations of women, shared reflection, emotional coping and solidarity. What does it mean for teenagers to grow up in these times and learn about themselves in a hyper-mediatized environment that frames their body and sexuality as a threatening risk, linked to feelings of fear, shame, humiliation and loss of control? What relationship do teenage girls today have with their own image? How do they approach intimacy? And is there room for female empowerment and pleasure?
Gosia Wdowik is a Polish theatre-maker known for her committed and investigative performances. Her work focuses on social and feminist themes, with a strong emphasis on women's experiences and voices. During NEXT 2024, she already presented She was a Friend of Someone Else, about abortion and women's rights in Poland. With DEEPER, she continues her quest for ways in which theatre can offer resistance  to oppression and digital manipulation.
