Taiwan was built on a seismic fault line. To the east is the Chinese mainland, to the west its American rival. If one of the two giants stirs too much, everything collapses. A diplomatic balancing act told with the brio of action films and delirious political thrillers.

The heiress of a bubble tea company, a former ambassador and a digital activist set up a Taiwanese embassy for the duration of the show. A risky business, without UN recognition. As usual, Rimini Protokoll brings civil society actors to the stage to talk about democracy, utopia and urban planning. The play is wide-ranging but touches the heart. This is not an embassy, but by the end of it, you'll be wishing it was.
