“Replay” can mean : play something again – slower, to be able to examine more closely how everything has exactly unfolded. In the performance Replay choreographer Eszter Salamon returns to the dance material she developed for Reproduction (2004), inspired by positions from the legendary Kama Sutra. Replay shows the pleasure of moving ánd watching movement while bodies get rid of social norms. As raw material for cultural and social organisations they allow endless re-writing, produce difference and multiple.
Via soundscapes of voices the connection between touching and listening is explored in this performance. Replay wants to offer an ecosystem where living and 'dead' architectures, organic and inorganic bodies, material and immaterial energies can co-exist. A work of art in movement, radically many-voiced.
Eszter Salamon is a choreographer, a visual artist and a performer. She lives and works in Berlin and Paris, takes her doctor's degree in art in Oslo and has received several prizes in recent years. Salamon's work could be seen before at a.o Centre Pompidou (Paris) and MoMa (New York) and at Kunstenfestivaldesarts, the Festival of Avignon and the Ruhrtriennial.
“A reflection of a culture in which images of masculinity and femininity are for sale like ready-made clothes” (Christiaan Weijts, De Groene Amsterdammer about Reproduction)
