In Balthazar, the main part is not performed by a professional dancer or actor, but by - no kidding ! - an untrained donkey. With donkey Balthazar, the human performers on stage try to create meaningful images, stories and choreographies, but whether they succeed in this remains the question : indeed, a donkey is quite difficult to tame. As a spectator, you sympathise with this unusual protagonist. Nothing is completely predictable, which makes Balthazar a tremendously exciting and beastly funny performance ! For the Brussels producer David Weber Krebs this is not his first time : he has made unusual performances before in which he put seventy amateur dancers on stage or a whole arsenal of bulbs were turned off to save the climate.
