Personal Symphonic Moment

Elina Pirinen (Finland)

70 minutes

Elina Pirinen is the most promising Finnish dance talent of the moment. For her new creation Personal Symphonic Moment, in which she dances together with Kati Korosuo and Katja Sallinen, she chose Symphony nr. 7 by composer Dmitri Sostakovits, better known as the Leningrad Symphony. On stage three dancers perform an autopsy on this monumental piece of music without too much respect for the original. The performance both responds to the primitive, intellectual and the unconscious side of the audience. What's more, it evokes a whole arsenal of associations and emotions. Decay, consolation, beauty, eroticism, loss, regret, banality, excitement, rage, sentimentality... Personal Symphonic Moment digs deep into the individual psyche and at the same time tells us a lot about our society.
