“Which dance shall we take with us to a deserted island ?” This is the question the French choreographer and visual artist Mylène Benoit asks herself in her new creation Notre danse. It must be a dance that expresses a certain essence of human existence, a gesture that is closely connected with the rituals of traditional peoples. Notre Danse goes in search of our inner folklore, whose every action is necessary and doesn't necessarily have to mean anything or pursue an artistic purpose. Is there anything essential in reaching out to heaven or stamp the earth with your feet ? Five dancers undertake a quest to the origin of dance in this visually impressive experience, in which Mylène Benoit continues building on the ideas she developed in three former solos.
