Not the philosoper but the choreographer with the hammer. This is how one can best describe the Spanish Aina Alegre. However different her choreographies may be, the constant is one recurring gesture : the beating and the hammering. In her first solo No se trata de un desnudo mitologico the beat on the ground was at the centre. In the group choreography Le Jour de la Bête the same beating led to a rhythmic way of communicating and the formation of a community. La Nuit, Nos Autres made the space vibrate through the hammering of the techno music. In the duo Délices the beating of one awakened the skin of the other.

Alegre's new performance R-A-U-X-A promotes the hammering to the choreographic motor that steers every possible movement. Body, sound, light and space together create a sensual landscape and invite the audience to an overwhelming dance experience. Prepare yourself for Alegre's absolutely unique movement language and a rarely intense stage experience.

Aina Alegre studied dance, theatre and song in Barcelona before joining CNDC in Angers under the direction of Emmanuelle Huynh. From her earliest creations, the Catalan saw her art as a way of reinventing the body. She sees the stage as a physical lab at the crossroads of disciplines, the questioning of rituals and social performances.
