Project
FERAL
Feral is a series of four staged landscapes which assume contrastingly different imaginaries of body and place. The notion of charge is used to style the bodies movements and presences. Handcrafted textiles create a series of scenographic propositions, each one exerting a texture and perspective, the gaze is tied in, drawn out, obstructed.
This work is a possible reading of feralness contra to ecological re-wilding trends which seek authenticity, and natural purity. Rather this work poses feralness as unhealed, polluted, charged, hollowed out, displaced.
The stage becomes a void, an opulent dumpsite, a synthetic desert, a horizon. The performers become screeches, deviant figures, inanimate, hollowed out surfaces. The apparatus of the theatre is used to create an experience of suspension, rather than instruction.
