Forget the encyclopedias and the chronological friezes. Fanny de Chaillé puts a history of theatre on stage that resounds in everybody. Because art is “one of the pillars of democratic functioning” and “a work of art has the power to upset a life”.
Above all the theatre is the art of the presence. Consequently it's through the pleasure of play and the direct address to the intelligence of its spectators, young and less young, that Fanny de Chaillé applies herself to winding back the thread of dramatic history. Here's a piece that knows well how to do away with complexes of legitimacy and celebrate the experience with an elegant simplicity, not so clumsy, and make a community the time of a performance.
