Absolutely unique duet between woman and horse
In 2017 actress Laetitia Dosch played the leading part in the film Jeune Femme, which won the Caméra d'Or at the Filmfestival of Cannes for best debut. When Dosch was acting in a western in the United States, she got acquainted with the world of horses. She got to know their capacity to listen, their calm, their sensitivity. The meeting set her dreaming of a utopian relationship between man and animal.
Hate is a duet with a horse. It is not a dialogue but it's two monologues :that of the woman and then the final monologue of the horse. For this absolutely unique piece Dosch found inspiration in sculpture and painting. She and the horse stand naked on the stage covered with sand. The choreography brings their bodies into contact. Hate, with a scenography by the French theatre celebrity Philippe Quesne, is an unedited dialogue that gives food for thought about our relationship to the animal kingdon. Ambiguous and paradoxical, stunning and dangerous.
Laetitia Dosch is a literary translator and graduated from the 'Classe Libre' of the Cours Florent in Paris and the school of acting la Manufacture in Lausanne. There, in cooperation with the actors, she wrote her first piece, Le Bac à Sable. In 2017 she worked together with Katie Mitchell for the creation of La Maladie de la mort by Marguerite Duras, which premièred in 2018.
Next to the prize-winning Jeune Femme Dosch acted in several short films and she played a part in the second season of the television series Ainsi soient-ils (Arte France). Parallel with this, she further develops her own theatre work : Laetitia fait péter..., then Klein, with Patrick Laffont as part of the festival Etrange Cargo 2014. In 2015, there was, together with Yuval Rozman, Un Album at the Théâtre de l'Arsenic, inspired by the Swiss comic Zouc. In 2016 followed Les Corvidés, a piece she wrote together with Jonathan Capdevielle at the invitation of the Festival d'Avignon and SACD (Société des Auteurs et Compositeurs Dramatiques) for 'Les Sujects (?) à Vif'.
