Each time a group of fifteen people gather in an apparently indefinable location in town. A guide in futurist attire welcomes them and points out the exclusivity of this guided walk : the chosen owe this unique experience to the only tour operator who is allowed to set foot in Zone X. Close on a hundred years ago some things went seriously wrong in this domain.
What remains later of the human being we are today in the midst of a tornado of crises ? Which exceptional utterances of fragility and resilience will appear to be typical of this era ? In the same way as we visit Tsjernobyl today, we take a tourist trip in the futurist Zone X of Kyoko Scholiers to the place where we live. But that place has become a devastated, contaminated, forbidden zone with its own special inhabitants. Walking through the ruin of the early 21st century, you and the guide interpret our heritage.
Kyoko Scholiers is an artist, a theatre maker and an actress. She has worked together with great theatre houses such as tg STAN and Antigone and acted in films such as Anyway the wind blows and De hel van Tanger. Her recent theatre work is of the journalistic type and probes human fragility and resilience and the influence of time on man. For Zone X Scholiers interviewed among others anthropologists, ecologists and futurologists. With curiosity and a sense of wonder she puts us under the microscope as the strange creatures we will appear to be to our offspring.
