In this new edition of the NEXT festival, I’m glad to present my last work Ostentation Project. As an extension of the work, I want to invite you to a workshop on the thematics the performance is dealing with. Creating this performance, I have been developing a practice that consists of the succession of simple tasks: writing, moving, and singing. These tasks help us to relate to the concept of Ostentation in different ways. So, the departing point of the workshop is to get close to the different meaning of the word Ostentation and write about personal fantasies and impressions of Ostentation. Once these associative ideas found a home on paper, we will use them as a basis for different physical and performative games. The Idea is to bring to the body what we have written on the paper, creating new sensations, meanings, and layers. As the last step of the practice, we take this experience as a starting point to bring out a song. To close the workshop we are going to write a collective new meaning of the word Ostentation.

This practice is a space in which different physical and mental states help us explore our personal Ostentation, but also it is an intimate space. Finding a shared space for vulnerability, we can explore, practice, and share our (hidden) need to “show off” or “ostentate”.

The workshop is open to performers who are eager to encounter a collective improvisation practice and explore the diverse notions of showing off.

Bring water, a notebook, a pen, and comfortable clothes.
No experience needed.
