Eurovision Song Contest of the disgust
From 2007 already, the Encyclopédie de la parole ( a collective of theatre makers, poets, musicians...founded by Joris Lacoste) registers the most divergent forms of human language usage. From the conductor who urges us on to board the train and the sports reporter who runs through the line-up to the vlogster who gets all worked up : they all get a second life in their online database ánd on stage.
Using the collected material and working together with the composer Pierre-Yves Macé, Lacoste already made two choral suites and now adds a third one. Suite No.3 focuses on those forms of language usage that irritate, worry, shock or bore us. With the help of a number of 'correspondents' Lacoste collected condescending speeches, safety instructions, verbal aggression...in all 28 member countries of the European Union.
By providing them with a beautiful melody and having them sung , he hopes to expel the poison. Rather than culture-pessimistic wailing this performance is a cheerful exorcism. An attempt to liberate us from ugly language use.
In contrast with the two earlier choral suites the musical impact in Suite No.3 'Eurovision' is stronger. The 28 songs are sung by Bianca Iannuzzi and Laurent Deleuil, accompanied on the piano by Denis Chouillet.
Next to Suite No.3 'Eurovision' the Encyclopédie de la parole also shows blablabla at NEXT.
