Lisbeth Gruwez dances Bob Dylan

Lisbeth Gruwez (Belgium), Maarten Vancauwenberghe (Belgium) & Voetvolk (Belgium)

45 minutes

Inspired duet between dance and Dylan

“So pure, spontaneous and generous. On repeat.” (De Standaard)

The concept of this performance is brilliant in its simplicity : Maarten Van Cauwenberghe, the artistic habitué of Lisbeth Gruwez, plays old records by Bob Dylan and Gruwez dances. It's the start of a conversation without words but one of the purest sort.

Since its beginning this duet has been a small peak in the special cooperation between Gruwez and Van Cauwenberghe, who once grew tall in the team of Jan Fabre,, and now strive for a symbiosis of the auditive and the corporal under the name 'Voetvolk'.

Their most important achievement so far is probably what they themselves describe as “the triptych of the ecstatic body”, which includes the performances It's going to get worse and worse and worse, my friend, AH/HA and We're pretty fuckin' far from okay. AH/HA was shown before at NEXT Artsfestival and it is during the extensive tour of It's going to be worse...that the first seed was sown for Lisbeth Gruwez dances Bob Dylan.

Lisbeth Gruwez dances Bob Dylan takes you to the place where the evening flows into the night. A place where the party is coming to an end and the guests return home in dribs and drabs, and only one person is left behind on the dancefloor, imperturbable, plunged in a dialogue with the music. It is the ideal way to (re)discover the work of the Noble Prize winner in an other dimension.
