What do you need in order to be able to dance ? For Yaïr Barelli space is the ultimate dimension for a dancer. The stage. The darkness of the theatre. The light. The ticket of the spectators. The spectator without a ticket. The fact that there is a beginning and an end. The ever recurring request to switch off mobile phones. The mobile that starts ringing anyway. The costumes. The applause. The bow of the players. The drink afterwards. “ ‘Sur l’interprétation’ is a performance about theatre, about the reality and the material of the theatre,” says the young choreographer. He focuses on the here and now of the performance. What is at stake ? Who takes part in it ? What are the rules ? What are the expectations ? Consider this creation as a manual with which you can develop the most divergent theatrical situations. A protocol.

Yaïr Barelli was born in Jerusalem in 1981. After his psychology and linguistics studies he started a professional dance training at the Centre de Développement Choréographique in Toulouse. Initially he worked for various Israeli choreographers but in 2008 he relocated to France, to Paris this time, where he is still living now. In the past 3 years he has created work of his own with which he has toured Europe and Israel. He also regularly gives workshops.
