Minifestival rituel sur l'art et la religion.

Sacrifice, mini-festival conçu par the Iceland Dance Company, explore les liens entre l’art et la religion. Inspiré par le concept du rituel, il explore plusieurs moments de la vie humaine par la danse, la vidéo, la musique tandis que le public déambule dans différents lieux, pour y découvrir quatre performances qui constituent ce festival : No Tomorrow, création du performeur Ragnar Kjartansson et de la chorégraphe Margrét Bjarnadóttir, s’intéresse à la jeunesse avec des adolescents qui jouent de la guitare. Union of the North, conçu par l’artiste Matthew Barney, la chorégraphe Erna Ómarsdóttir et le musicien Valdimar Jóhannsson, est une performance sur les liens entre consumérisme et spiritualité dans le mariage. L’installation Dies Irae de Gabriela Friõriksdóttir met l’accent sur le passage entre la vie et la mort. Enfin, la dernière pièce Market questionne l’aspect commercial des religions. Un parcours pluridisciplinaire haut en couleurs !

Ce mini festival regroupe de grandes figures artistiques de la scène islandaise ainsi qu’une proposition du performeur et vidéaste américain Matthew Barney connu internationalement pour son Cremaster Cycle. Passée par P.A.R.T.S., Erna Ómarsdóttir, reconnue comme une danseuse exceptionnelle et aujourd’hui directrice de la Iceland Dance Company, a été interprète pour Jan Fabre, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui et Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker avant de proposer ses propres créations.

Iceland Dance Company present “Sacrifice”, a collection of new commanding creations exploring the relationship between art and religion. Inspired by the idea of the ritual as an essential part of life, Sacrifice takes over in a celebration of dance, art and music where audiences move from one space to the next, experiencing a different ritual in each place. No Tomorrow, a new creation by performance and visual artist Ragnar Kjartansson and choreographer Margrét Bjarnadóttir, focuses on the idea of youth with a group of dancers with acoustic guitars and music by The National's Bryce Dessner. Union of the North, created by renowned American visual artist Matthew Barney, choreographer Erna Ómarsdóttir and musician Valdimar Jóhannsson is a performative video installation, attempting to fuse together consumerism and the spiritual in an act of marriage. Dias Irae by visual artist Gabriela Friðriksdóttir is part video-installation, part choreographed ritual that focuses on the transition from life to death. Made in collaboration with Ómarsdóttir and Jóhannsson, the video also serves as an inspiration for their choreograpy, Shrine. Finally the festivities reach an immersive peak at the already bustling Market, where people present their beliefs, ideas and solutions for a sustainable future.
