A Kiss Without Lips
Anna Gaïotti & vierge noir eFrance
From Ethiopia with love
Anna Gaiotti has made her name with pieces in which text, dance and music but also fiction and reality are mixed. For her latest creation the poet and choreographer did her writing and research into ethnic music forms in the lower valley of Omo in Ethiopia, with the Hamar and Nyangatom tribes.
She immersed herself in the daily life of farmers, women and children, learned the art of forging from the smiths, listened to the silences and the sounds of the bush.
Fed by an ancestral dialect of gestures, sounds and spirituality, the artist – who also performs for Phia Ménard and Tatiana Julien – reflects on the disappearance of an ecosystem. An identity destroyed by a patriarchal culture and a globalized economy which cause an unprecedented climatic and human crisis.
To the rhythm of an electro-acoustic piece composed by vierge noir e, the performers bring together on stage and in their own skin two worlds that seem opposites. They embrace a different reality in order to better reconcile lands and peoples, the dead and the living.
