NEXT 2017 closes with 12.713 spectators!

Saturday November 25th 2017, the public, artists and crew of the NEXT festival closed the tenth edition of the festival. We look back at 19 days with a fine selection of international productinos in 18 Flemish, Walloon and French theatres.

NEXT 2017:

-       38 international productions of choreographers, theatre makers and performers from 17 countries. With a.o. Cindy Van Acker (BE/CH), Walid Raad (US/LB), Silke Huysmans & Hannes Dereere (BE), Mette Ingvartsen (DK/BE), Julian Hetzel (NL/DE), Bara Sigfusdottir (IS/IR/BE), Ayelen Parolin (AR/BE), Kris Verdonck (BE), Daniel Hellman (CH), Erna Omarsdottir & Valdimar Johannsson/ Iceland Dance Company (IS), Sonja Jokiniemi (FI), Radhouane El Meddeb (TN), ...
-       2 world premieres (Walid Raad (US/LB) & Yuval Rozman (IL) and 14 national premieres.

-       12.713 spectators, which means a filling up of almost 80 % of the available seats.
-       69 presentations in 18 theaters in 13 French, Flemish and Walloon cities in and around the Eurometropolis:
  • 6 co-organising partners: La rose des vents Villeneuve d’Ascq, l’Espace Pasolini Valenciennes, le phénix Valenciennes, la maison de la culture de Tournai, Schouwburg Kortrijk en kunstencentrum BUDA Kortrijk,
  • 12 associated houses: le Théâtre du Nord Lille, Lille3000, Le Vivat Armentières, Le Grand Bleu Lille, Le Gymnase Roubaix, CC Het Perron Ieper, CC De Steiger Menen, CC Het Spoor Harelbeke, CC Gildhof Tielt, Theater Malpertuis Tielt, le Manège Maubeuge, La Comédie de Béthune.

-       36 festival buses carried 999 spectators to performances in other cities and regions.
-       teeNEXTers : 48 teenagers from Ireland, Scotland, Spain, Norway, Belgium and France gathered for an intense five-day programme of performances and workshops in NEXT. The project TeeNEXTers, initiated by the Lille partner Le Grand Bleu urges young people from very diverse backgrounds to critically think about their ideas together. Through both artistic experience and cooperation they form their own opinion and learn how to argue it.
